Met deze filmavond ondersteunt de Soroptimistenclub Arnhem Jeugdbescherming Gelderland. De opbrengst zal worden gebruikt om speelgoed aan te schaffen.<\/p>\n<p>Dit jaar draait de film <em>The Children Act.<\/em> Een aangrijpend verhaal over een jonge terminaal zieke Jehova\u2019s getuige die een bloedtransfusie weigert en de kinderrechter die moet oordelen of dit rechtvaardig is.<\/p>\n<p>Fiona May (Emma Thompson) is een gezaghebbende kinderrechter. Ze beslist over het lot van kinderen in de meest uiteenlopende zaken. Net wanneer haar echtgenoot haar wijst op hoezeer haar werk haar opslokt en hoe hun huwelijk daaronder lijdt, wordt ze benaderd voor een van haar moeilijkste zaken ooit: een spoedprocedure omtrent de 17-jarige Adam, die op sterven ligt. Hij kan gered worden door een bloedtransfusie maar als Jehova\u2019s getuigen weigeren zowel zijn ouders als de jongen zelf hieraan mee te werken.
